In 1979, I played with Turtlewax Express.
E.g., here is a recording of our gig

*Not at the Yale gig.
That summer, we played weekly on Saturday nights at The Surf
(Nantasket Beach), and every Thursday night at The Corner
Bar (Salem, Mass.). This picture (right), taken at The
Surf, shows me
with Janet Feld, who
is now a famous folk musician in Cambridge.
For more, here
here
are some clips of our electric set from August 4, 1979, where I
played electric guitar. I still like the (long!
- you have been warned) jam
on For What
It's Worth.
For those who are interested, FWIW (above) starts at ~5:45 on
the full
recording.
While
later (in the 80's and 90's) I
developed a very different guitar style, this tune captures a
lot of the "70's sound" we were trying to make:
(+) The Nantasket Beach recordings
feature our friend Joe from Martian Highway, sitting in as
guest drummer. The gig was recorded
by Eric Miller, who
has a
copy here.
