Here's a video of me doing the complete Java/Eclipse/Ambient install on Window's Vista.
Although we have a pre-packaged Eclipse and Ambient available from the Duke Ambient website, you may want to download Eclipse (and Java) and do the install more manually.
You should download Eclipse (Europa) Classic, the Eclipse IDE that we'll use in this course from the Eclipse downloads site. You should have already installed Java 6, either from Sun Java site (download JDK 6, Update 3 as of 1/11/08) for Windows and Linux. If you have a Mac you can use the version of Java (5) that comes with your Mac. As of 1/1/08 there isn't Java 6 for Tiger or Leopard (unless you're feeling adventurous you can use the Apple Developer Site join the apple developer (ADC) site since this is a preview release, and download Java 6 preview for Leopard. But you don't need to do this.)
After installing Eclipse you'll need to install Ambient. The information on how to do this is somewhat buried in the Ambient pages here's the information for installing Ambient from an existing Eclipse install.
