Assignment 7: Cowboy Crisis!
Synopsis:
Inspired by many arcade shooters, I present, Cowboy Crisis!
As the above states, you are a sharpshooter called to apprehend a team
of bank robbers. You start off at an initialization screen teaching you
how to play the game and to select the difficulty by clicking on the
coloured gumdrops. Pressing Enter starts the game, or pressing s will
skip the beginning intro animation straight into the game.
Assuming that you start the game by pressing Enter, you appear
in front of your police car. You enter the car and drive to the
junkyard where the criminals have fled to. You do not have control over
the game at this time until you reach the junkyard.
This picture displays the main game field where the enemies
will pop up from behind obstacles. Clicking on the enemies will score
you points and cause them to disappear. Clicking on their revolvers
will be the same as disarming them and apprehending them alive. This
will earn you extra points.
This picture above demonstrates some locations that the enemies
may randomly appear from. The number, location and how they appear are
all randomly selected.
You win either if you manage to reach the score limit. You lose
if you run out of time or lives. The ending animation is essentially
the same, with the game code ending and the screen fading out. Only if
you run out of lives does the screen fade to red, like below, mimicing
blood. Otherwise, the screen fades to black.
This screenshot shows the winning screen where you manage to
stop the criminals from escaping and retrieve the safe from their get
away car.
Otherwise if you lose, you see a short clip of the criminals
making their escape in their get away car. The color of the environment
again is determined if you were killed or you ran out of time. If your
lives hit zero, the color is red. Else if the timer ran down, the
environment is set back to the original color.
