Daily Questions

Readings will accompany each lecture topic, and are to be done before the class in which we discuss the topic. One question will be posted in Blackboard each day on the corresponding reading, and must be answered by noon on the day of the lecture. Blackboard will remove the posts at noon, so no partial credit will be given for late submissions.

To respond to the daily question, go to Blackboard, login, and click on the "Assignments" link.

Homework

Links to homework assignments (in .pdf format) are given below. Homework is due at the beginning of class (3:30 pm) on the due date. Homework can be submitted up to 24 hours late for a 10% penalty, but will not be accepted beyond that point.

The solution to any one homework question must fit on a single page.

For homework problems, discussion among students is permitted, but students MUST write up solutions independently and list those with whom they worked. No materials or sources from prior years' classes or from the Internet can be consulted. In addition, what I cannot read, I will not grade. Depending on your handwriting, it may be best to type your solutions and write-in any necessary equations.

Quizzes

The two quizzes in the course will be short and straightforward. The goal of these quizzes is twofold: 1) to asses understanding of course material, and 2) to familiarize the students with the type of questions to be given on the exams, and to do so in a timed environment.

For grading percentages, see the Guidelines page.
