Homework will be assigned at a rate of about one assignment per week, with each assignment typically due on the Thursday after it is assigned. The assignments will cover the material up to the Tuesday before it is due. I will return the graded homework assignments on Friday or Monday.
Collaboration on the homework assignments is allowed (and even encouraged!), but each student must write up the solutions independently. No materials from the internet or from previous years can be consulted. Homeworks can be submitted late, but with a 10% penalty for each day (including weekends). If you wish to turn it in after hours, slide it under the door of my office (D103) and send me an email telling me that it's there.
There will be two quizzes during the term, both at the end of major topics. These quizzes will be much shorter than an exam, with the intention of taking only twenty - thirty minutes of a class period. The quizzes will generally be easier than an exam as well, and will hopefully prepare the class better before the midterm and final. |
