CPS 102 - What, No Recitations?

There is no scheduled recitation session for this class. The main reason for this is that the number of students is small, and their level of preparation is likely to be diverse.

A compulsory recitation would force the faster students to work at the pace of the slower ones. An optional, scheduled recitation would force interested parties to meet at a time decided by someone else, and would force the Teaching Assistant to prepare a session without knowing how many students, if any, will attend.

The absence of scheduled recitation sessions does not mean that the Teaching Assistant will not meet students to help them with topics they find hard. You are very much encouraged to send email to your TA at zheng@cs.duke.edu asking for a help session. If he receives more than one request for help on the same topic, he will try to optimize use of his time by  scheduling a meeting with all interested students, rather than seeing them individually.

We want to make these meetings an opportunity you will take whenever useful, not a poorly fitting requirement you are stuck with.
