Your final grade will be determined by the max of the following two options. (Note that this change was made to comply with a recent change in the requirements for quals courses, which states that 50% of the final grade must be determined by exams. Since grading path I was promised at the start of the semester, this will remain as an option for people who want to stick with the original formula. Another way to interpret this is that people who did poorly on the midterm will have the option of redeeming themselves by taking a final exam.)
