CompSci 94 - Classwork 4 - Sep 5, 2013
10 pts

Today's classwork goes along with Chapter 2, section 1.

The following work needs to be done with your partner and then shown to a TA or professor to be checked off. You need to show two storyboards and then demo the different camera views in your Alice world.

  1. Write a storyboard for the following scenario. Write only one storyboard and put both of your names on it.

The story is a game of musical chairs with four players (persons or animals) and a fifth person (or animal) running the game. The fifth person must yell out commands to tell the players to go and to stop. There is always one chair less than the number of players. When the stop command is issued, players must head to the closest chair and sit down if no one is not sitting there. The player that does not get a chair is out and must stand off to the side. The winner is the player that gets the chair when there are just two players left.

You do not know how to do all these things in Alice yet, but you want to give a good description of the actions including several storyboards. See the storyboard paper provided on the course website under today's date. Include a list of all the objects in your storyboard.

YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST FOUR SCENES!

  2. Write a storyboard for the following problem that has a snowman and two snowwomen in it. The snowman is on the left side facing front and the snowwomen are on the right side facing each other, probably talking. The snowman is looking at the snowwoman who has her back to him. He tries to get her attention by turning towards her and saying Ahem or something like that. She turns to look at him, he blinks his eyes at her. She blushes (her head turns red for a few seconds, and then she turns back to her friend. He hangs his head in disappointment and turns away. Write only one storyboard and put both of your names on it.

Do not write Alice code, only a storyboard on paper. Include a list of all the objects in your storyboard.

YOU SHOULD HAVE AT LEAST FOUR SCENES!

  3. Camera Control

For this part you both need to create your own Alice world, but work together and help each other. You will both need to show your Alice world to get this checked off.

Create an Alice world with a snowman and snowwoman facing each other. Follow the camera control handout to drop in three Dummy objects (camera tripods) to save the camera views so you can easily move to them.

When checking off you need to show the three camera views by doing "one shot" moves to move the camera to the views.
