Animal Fun with Leslie!

An interactive game designed by: Sydney Wang & Portia Boone

Initial Scene: "Leslie prepares to go on a field trip. "

The game begins by introducing the player to Leslie, a young eskimo girl who is excited about going on a field trip where she will see a number of animals. After introducing herself, Leslie informs the player that she can only move on to each new exhibit at the zoo if the player pays close attenion to the gumdrops which will each move up and down a pre-determined number of times, and clicks on each gumdrop the correct number of times (corresponding to the number of times the gumdrop has moved). The game then automatically moves on to Stage 1, in which Leslie is standing behind a frozen lake on which a penguin is preparing to have fun by sliding on its belly, poking a hole into the ice, and diving into the cold water beneath the surface. After this occurs, Leslie tells the player to watch the gumdrops carefully to see how many times each gumdrop moves. If the player clicks on each gumdrop the correct number of times, Leslie congratulates the player and the game moves on to the second scene. If the player clicks on each gumdrop the incorrect number of times, Leslie says, "Nope, try again."

"Leslie, the monkeys, and the gumdrops"

In the second stage, Leslie finds herself standing beside a very hungry cow who proceeds to walk forward and eat all of the leaves of the plant in front of her. After watching the cow walk away, Leslie once again tells the player to watch the gumdrops carefully and to click on the gumdrops the correct number of times. Once each gumdrop has been clicked on the correct number of times, the game moves on to Stage 3. Stage 3 begins with Leslie standing beside a group of monkeys gathered under a grove of palm trees. Suddenly, one of the monkeys moves to a ladder located near one of the trees, climbs up, and jumps up to another tree where he moves to a coconut and shakes the tree until the coconut falls to the ground at the feet of another of the monkeys. Leslie asks the monkey if she can have some of his coconut, but he vigourously shakes his head no and Leslie says "Awww, I guess not." The gumdrops then go through another sequence of moving up and down, and if the player moves on correctly, the game moves on to Stage 4, the final stage of the game. In Stage 4, Leslie is standing on a platform in an aquatic arena and the gumdrops (situated within an array visualization) are floating on the water. The gumdrops go through another sequence and, upon the players' successful recreation of the number of clicks for each gumdrop, the game moves to the end scene.

"Final Scene"

The final scene shows Leslie returning back home after having a great time on her field trip. She thanks the player for helping her get to see all of the animals, waves to the camera and says goodbye after what was certainly a wonderful day!
