The Magician and the Magnet!

The story of Magenta the Magician and his Magical Magnet

by Cashida Okeke

Magenta the Magician thought that he was the most magnificent wizard in all of Waverly Place. There was not a trick that he could not do with his magical resources, like his wand, his hat, his imaginary animals that could disappear on command and, most importantly, his magnet. Magenta the Magician did not really realize that his magnet was not really magical. In Waverly Place, they were not up to date with technology so it's inhabitants had no idea what science was and chemical reactions. So although, the magnet was merely a play on science, Magenta thought that it was his mind that was controlling the movement of the objects.

Magenta the Magician decided one day that he would go out into Waverly Place and test which things he could move with his mind. Up until that point, he had merely been trying to move smaller objects around his palace, like frogs, his wands and a metal doorknob or two. Now that he was out in to real world, the objects were much larger. But little could Magenta the Magician know the problems he would eventually run into with the size of certain objects and his ability to move them.

The mysterious magician felt that the larger the object was that he could move, then the greater his magical powers must be. In the middle of a forest, Magenta stumbled upon a circle of silver objects. As soon as he entered the clearing, he could feel the tug of his magnet and the victory of power rising inside him. He would conquer these objects and be named as the greatest magician in all of Waverly Place. He pointed his magnet at the first object- a medium sized padlock. It rose to his magnet with ease. "Yess!" he thought.

Now to try the scissors he thought. Again the scissors rose to the magnet with ease and then fell to the ground. "Who's bad?!" Magenta thought. With growing confidence, he spotted the saw blade in the corner. Again, pointing his magical magnet at it, it rose to the magnet with ease and fell to the ground again. "I am the greatest wizard here!" thought Magenta. He turned now to face the large, black safe that hovered in the background. As soon as he pointed his magnet at the safe, it almost flew from his hands. "I don't think," he started to think. Gripping it tighter, he was immediately pulled towards the safe. "Yikes!" he thought as he careened into the side of the safe.

One could only imagine how much that hurt! Poor Magenta the Magician!
