Duke University, Durham, NC
This is logistics for teachers attending one of the 2012 workshops.
The Brookwood Inn is an affordable hotel just off of Duke's campus near the Duke Hospital that we have used for several workshops that is a short walk to the Computer Science Building where the workshop will be held.We will reserve the rooms for the workshops in June/July 2012. We are paying for your room as long as you room with another teacher. If you want your own room, you will pay the first week and we will pay the second week (but we will still reserve the room in your name). For the two-week workshop rooms are reserved from Sunday through Friday for each one week for 5 nights (unless you stated that you only needed four nights.) If you are staying at the Brookwood, then you have to park your car at the Brookwood. Parking passes are only for commuters. We have to pay extra for the parking passes. From the Brookwood you can either walk or take the Brookwood shuttle.
You do not need to make a reservation since we are paying for your room. We will reserve the rooms. You should have received an email from Brook Osborne (rbo AT cs.duke.edu) about your roommate.
All workshops will be held in the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC) Room D106 at Duke University, from 9am-4pm each day. Come earlier for breakfast, 8:30am-9am. The address of the building is 308 Research Drive, Durham, NC 27708.
NOTE: Parking passes for those commuting will be handed out between 8am and 8:45am on the first day of the workshop. Please allow at least 20 minutes to pick up your parking pass, drive to the parking lot and walk back to the building. The parking pass is good for one week. If you are staying at the Brookwood, you should park there for free and either walk or take the shuttle.
Breakfast and Lunch are included with the workshop. Here are restaurant suggestions for dinner.
