These Walking/Parking Maps are for the workshops June 2012 and July 2012

WALKING MAP: This first map is a walking map from the hotel Brookwood Inn to LSRC D106 where the workshops will be held.

HEADS UP WALKING (6/15/2012): There is a lot of construction around Duke this summer. Our old directions had you walking through Duke Hospital, but that no longer works. See below for new walking directions from Brookwood.

BROOKWOOD INN: If you are staying at the hotel, you need to either walk, or ask the hotel to give you a ride on their shuttle.

Walking from Brookwood Inn:
If you don't want to walk, the Brookwood Inn Courtesy shuttle can bring you. Let them know ahead of time. If you walk it is a 10 minute walk. Walk out and head straight to Duke North Hospital. Cross Erwin road and then turn right and walk down Erwin road. Turn left into the parking lot of the Duke Eye Center. Bear to the right and walk along side the parking garage until you come to Research Drive. Turn left on Research Drive. Walk down Research drive on the right side of the road. Go past the circle. You will pass the North building (red brick) on your right. The next building is the LSRC building. Go past LSRC, then into LSRC in the closest door to Research Drive. We are in LSRC D106.

PARKING and PARKING PASS:

IF YOU ARE STAYING AT THE BROOKWOOD INN, please walk or take the shuttle.

COMMUTERS who need Parking: For those local people not staying at the Brookwood Inn. You will park in the Bryan Center Parking garage (DO NOT PARK IN THE LOT beside the parking garage, your pass is only good for inside the parking garage). FIRST YOU MUST PICKUP A PARKING PASS by the LSRC building. Allow extra time as you will need to pick up a parking pass, then drive to the Parking garage, then walk back to the LSRC building.

TO PICK UP PARKING PASS: From Erwin Road. Turn onto Research Drive towards Duke. Go through the circle and keep going straight. The first building on your right (red brick) is the North Building. Take the next right (between the North Building and the LSRC building). Drive down to the circle and turn around, then drive straight to pickup your parking pass. Someone will be standing on the sidewalk between the North Building and the LSRC building shown on the map below. Once you get your hangtag, put it on your rearview mirror and drive to the Bryan Center Parking lot. The hangtag will be good for one week.

Here is a map showing you how to get to the parking garage after you have picked up your parking permit. You MUST park in the parking gargage. The dashed line shows you how to walk to the workshop room, LSRC D106, after parking.

Directions to Workshop:

If you want to use a Google map for your directions, the address of the workshop is: 308 Research Dr., Durham, NC 27708. (That gets you close to the building on google maps. However, the old address of the building was 450 Research Drive and that seems to mark closer to the actual building for me. I guess they will update this at some point.)

Directions to Brookwood Inn

From I-40 Raleigh:
Head down I-40 West to Durham. Take 147 North. Take the Elba St exit 15A. Continue on Elba Street to Brookwood Inn.

From I-85 Virgina:
Head down I-85 south to Durham. Take 15-501 South Exit. Take 147 South. Take the Hillendale Rd exit. Bear right onto the Fulton St ramp. Bear Right on Fulton St. Turn left at Elba St.

From I-85 Greensboro:
Head down I-85 north to Durham. Take 15-501 South Exit. Take 147 South. Take the Hillendale Rd exit. Bear right onto the Fulton St ramp. Bear Right on Fulton St. Turn left at Elba St.

Driving Directions to LSRC Building

NOTE: You can walk from Brookwood Inn if you are staying there or you can ask them to drop you off and pick you up.

From I-40 Raleigh:

Head down I-40 West to Durham. Take 147 North. Take the Hillandale St Exit and turn left onto Hillandale. At the stop light, turn right onto Erwin Road. At the first stoplight, turn left onto Research Drive. and follow the directions above to pick up your parking pass.

From I-85 Virgina:
Head down I-85 south to Durham. Take 15-501 South Exit. Take the Moreene Road exit. Turing left onto Moreene Road. Then turn left at Erwin Road. Then turn right onto Research Drive. Then follow directions to pick up your parking pass.

From I-85 Greensboro:
Head down I-85 north to Durham. Take 15-501 South Exit. Take the Moreene Road exit. Turing left onto Moreene Road. Then turn left at Erwin Road. Then turn right onto Research Drive. Then follow directions to pick up your parking pass.

From I-40/15-501 intersection:
Take 15-501 toward Duke University. Take the exit for 751 and turn right. At the next stop light, turn left onto Erwin Road. At the third stop light, turn right onto Research Drive. See parking instructions above.

Walking from the Bryan Center parking garage to LSRC D106

Walk back to Science Drive. Turn right and go to the circle. Follow the stairs going down the hill to the LSRC building. Follow the sidewalk to the far right of the LSRC building (almost to the street). (see the dotted red line above).
