I worked for three hours over the weekend. I worked on my example world. It's getting really big, so I hope that I'm able to finish it. Today, I worked on the templates for Patricia. The first template is for students to sequence images (as if you have to put a story in order, purely in picture form). I had a hard time figuring this one out because I didn't realize list visualization didn't work. Whenever you move things to a list visualization during animation, there is an error because it stays there even after you stop the animation! Thankfully, array visualizations still work. So that's exciting. Now all I have to do is refactor that so it can be easily extendable for Patricia. Especially with different sets of data.
The second template is a matching world. It can be used with images or alice objects. One object comes forward and asks you to click on it's pair.
Side note, my boyfriend came to visit me for the weekend. He bought me a dozen roses when he came to have lunch with me :-). Professor Rodger found a bucket for me to put them in water so they didn't die during the day. It worked perfectly.
I am continuing to refactor the quiz templates and to work on my massive example world. I added the ability to narrate the story for the quiz world. Then Lana and Prof Rodger gave me some great advice. Tomorrow, I'm going to add the ability for the arrays to be on two sides. Then for the images to easily be resized to a standard. I worked for two hours extra this evening.
Today, I've decided that my last day is going to be next Wednesday. Since I'm leaving Duke, there are a number of things that I'll need to accomplish next Thursday and Friday. I've been working in the evening and I'll work some on Saturday as well. I worked on my example world for most of the day. It's getting so big now, that I'm having problems with Alice. I think I may have to scale back all of my ideas. Vince talked about Game theory today at lunch. I understood what he was talking about, so that's a good sign, :o).
Today I made progress on all of my tutorials, etc. I'm sad because my example world is too big to finish. I am still working out my sequencing world. It's difficult to make it extendable to any number of slides (and still have it fit on the screen).
So I reworked some of my example world so that there aren't as many events and methods. That's definitely helped alot. Things that I have to do for it: instruction booklet, finish explanation for activity 4, and make the winning method. Professor Rodger made an excellent point about the number of billboards I have - which are very detailed and probably adding a lot of memory. I'm going to combine the slides from my deep sea booklet. Hopefully that will allow me to free up some space :-). Then maybe I will get to finish activity one. Lunch at Watts Grocery was yummy. I always appreciate it when Professor Rodger takes us out to lunch. Good conversation too. I'm continuing to have trouble making my sequencing world extendable to different slide numbers. It'll get there. Today was Lana's last day at work.
