Central Filer Experiencing Intermittant Outages

The new filer experienced an issue with its redundant 10gb links this morning that caused us to switch over (live) to a 1gb link. Apparently this is a bug in the 10gb code, but can be addressed with appropriate settings. We have renabled the 10gb link to see if the problem was corrected. During the switch between the 1gb to 10gb link you may have noticed a brief outage. We will continue to monitor the performance, and can always fall back to the 1gb link if necessary. If you experience slowness, please send a report to problem@cs.duke.edu.

It appears that the issue has not been resolved, and we will be reverting to the 1gb link. There will be another very brief outage while the change is made.

Update

There was some additional slowness with accessing mail and networked filesystems caused by the network link on the filer. As of 11/11 things appear to be working normally. Additional maintenance on the filer is scheduled for this Saturday.
