Our primary file server has been upgraded to a Network Appliance FAS3020 (hostname: chthonic) with 14 TB usable storage (21 TB raw), replacing the previous Netapp FAS940 (hostname: minerva), which will continue on as a mirror.
The NetApp FAS3020 provides high availability with: RAID-DP (a double-parity implementation based on RAID-4), snapshots, mirroring, redundant power, etc. The additional storage will be gradually brought into production. We expect this to be our primary file server (home directories, most project space, etc.) for about three years.
