iPhone Secure IMAP

Users may use set up their iPhone (or iPod Touch), to read their department mail. To do so, please follow these instructions:

Create a Mail account

  1. On the iPhone, go to Settings → Mail → Add Account → Other.
  2. Fill in the fields using the information below:

    Name: First Last
    Address: Duke CS email address (username@cs.duke.edu)
    Description: Duke Computer Science

    Under Incoming Mail Server, type the following:
    Host Name: mail.cs.duke.edu
    User Name: [Your CS username]
    Password: [Your CS password]
    Use SSL: On
    Under Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), type the following:
    Host Name: mail.cs.duke.edu
    User Name: cs-username
    Password: Your CS password
    Use SSL: On
  3. Tap Save.
  4. Tap Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> username@cs.duke.edu -> Advanced:
  5. Set Use SSL to "On"
  6. Set the IMAP Path Prefix to "mail/" or the directory where you store your mail folders.
