Microsoft Outlook IMAP/POP client

To configure Outlook to read SSL IMAP mail, you need to configure your server to be an IMAP server, and:

  1. Go to the Tools menu and choose accounts.
  2. Highlight your e-mail server name in the upper left hand pane of the window and click the properties button. Make sure the server is named mail.cs.duke.edu.
  3. Select the Advanced tab at the top of the window that appears.
  4. For incoming mail, select "This server requires a secure connection (SSL)."
  5. Make sure the port is 993 or 995.
  6. Click OK.
