Executive Committee
The Executive Committee discusses cases for renewal, promotion, and tenure of tenure-track
faculty. The Executive Committee consists of all tenured faculty with
primary appointments in the department and the Associate Chair. Appropriate
subsets of this group meet to consider promotion to Professor, as specified
in the Faculty Handbook. All transactions are confidential, because of
the nature of the business conducted.

Graduate Admissions Committee
The Graduate Admissions Committee acts for the department in correspondence with prospective graduate students and in recommending candidates to the Graduate School for admission to graduate study in the department and for fellowships. At the end of its activities, the committee delivers the list of students recommended for admission also to the Chair of the Graduate Program Committee, together with an assignment of faculty members to students for recruitment purposes. This committee also nominates candidates for competitive Duke University scholarships and fellowships.

Graduate Program Committee
The Graduate Program Committee advises the department on matters pertaining to the graduate programs. The committee reviews the graduate curriculum at least every four years, and may recommend changes to the faculty. The committee acts for the department in recommending candidates for graduate awards. The committee also coordinates graduate student recruitment activities based on the list of students and faculty assignments compiled by the Graduate Admissions Committee.

inDuke Steering Committee
The inDuke Steering Committee oversees certain administrative and policy aspects of the Department's Industry Partners Program. The Chair of the
committee is the Director of inDuke. Membership includes
representation from ECE, CS, and Industry. The items in the
purview of this committee include: planning and implementation of inDuke events, evaluating program development and success metrics, budgetary issues and monitoring expenditures of program funds, and evaluating and making recommendations to the faculty regarding administrative and policy matters related to inDuke.

Departmental Infrastructure Committee
The Departmental Infrastructure Committee oversees the operation of the Department's Computing Laboratory and advises the Chair on space allocation issues in both the LSRC and North buildings. The Chair delegates to this committee the task of advising the Computing Laboratory manager and staff on matters of policy, funding, operations, priority, and equipment acquisition concerning the Department's computing infrastructure.

Teaching Excellence Committee
The Teaching Excellence Committee is composed of the DUS, DGS, and Assistant or Associate Chair.
This committee reviews the teaching performance of all faculty in the
department. The committee provides the Chair with a ranked list (excluding
committee members) of the best teachers in the department for possible
consideration in salary recommendations and teaching honors. It also alerts
the Chair to cases where faculty teaching performance seems unsatisfactory.

Undergraduate Program Committee
The Undergraduate Program Committee advises the department on matters pertaining to the undergraduate programs. The committee reviews the undergraduate curriculum for Computer Science majors at least every four years, and may recommend changes to the faculty. The committee acts for the department in recommending candidates for undergraduate awards.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee

maintenance and development. The committee also advises on
