Organization:
Duke University System Administrators is a loosely organized group
with very little in the way of formal constitution or bylaws.
We have a self-appointed steering committee who schedule meetings as they
deem appropriate,
and members are anyone with official system administration related
duties at Duke University or DUMC who asks to be on the mailing list.
Meetings happen five or six times a year, and usually consist of a
presentation on some topic of interest related to systems administration,
given by one of the members of the group or an invited speaker.
Refreshments are usually served, typically consisting of bread,
cheese, fruit, soft drinks, and coffee, and are paid for by
C.S. or some other sponsoring department.
Emphasis of meetings and discussions usually focuses on
UNIX-related operating environments, but this is not
hard-coded into our charter (there is no charter),
and so may vary along with members' interests and circumstances.
