During their first two years in the Ph.D. program, students must receive a "Quals Pass" in four of the six designated courses:

| COMPSCI 520 | Numerical Analysis |
| COMPSCI 570 | Artificial Intelligence |
The courses listed below will have a qualifying exam offered prior to the start of the semester. Students interested in taking one or more of these exams should register by August 10, 2012. Alternatively, students may enroll in a 'qual' course and attempt to earn the Quals Pass based upon exam performance during the semester.
