Transportation From the PDX Airport
SIGCSE 2008 attendees may use public transportation, a taxi/shuttle, or
a rental car to get from the airport to the hotel or convention center.

If using a rental car, follow signs to the rental car agencies, which
are located in the parking garage.
Using MAX (public transportation)
If you elect to use
MAX
(highly recommended), follow signs to the MAX station which is
located on the south side of baggage claim. As of June 2007, the fare
from the airport to downtown is $2. You should purchase an all-zone
ticket at the station before boarding the train. The only line that
comes to the airport is the red line, so you may board any train that
arrives at the station. The train comes approximately every 15 minutes.
Keep your ticket handy when riding the train - you do not deposit your
ticket somewhere to ride the train, but a fare inspector may ask to see
your ticket.
The following lists the stations where you should exit the red line MAX
train:
Convention Center: Get off the
train at the "Convention Center" stop and walk across the street the
Oregon Convention Center.
Hilton: Get off the train at
the "Mall/SW 5th Ave MAX Station" stop and walk southwest a few blocks
to the Hilton.
Inn at the Convention Center:
Get off the train at the "Convention Center" stop and walk across the
street to the hotel.
Red Lion Convention Center:
Get off the train at the "Convention Center" stop and walk east a few
blocks to the hotel.
Driving Directions from the PDX Airport
If you plan to rent a car, ask the rental agency for a map.
Convention Center and Nearby Hotels: From
the airport, follow signs to I-205. Take I-205 SOUTH and exit onto I-84
WEST. At the end of the freeway, follow signs to I-5 NORTH (toward
Seattle). Keep right and follow signs to the convention center. Exit on
Broadway and turn RIGHT at NE Holladay St.
Hilton: From the airport,
follow signs to I-205. Take I-205 SOUTH and exit onto I-84 WEST. At the
end of I-84 West
you will reach a junction of I-5 North and South. Go SOUTH toward
Salem (left lane). Immediately follow the City Center signs,
which will
take you across the Morrison Bridge. Head STRAIGHT through the traffic
light near the end of the bridge onto SW Washington St. Take Washington
1 block and then turn LEFT onto 3rd Avenue. Take 3rd Avenue 4 blocks
and then turn RIGHT onto SW Taylor St. Take Taylor 3 blocks and our
front doors will be on your right-hand side.
** To
arrive at the MAIN building, continue on SW Taylor 1 block and turn
LEFT onto SW Broadway. Turn LEFT on Salmon Street and LEFT again onto
6th Avenue. Our front doors will be on the left.
