About Me ...
I was born and grew up in Philadelphia, PA to Terese G. and Joseph F. X. Fasy. My father is a real estate broker and owns his own company, Fasy Realtors. My mother works at SJU. I have two sisters, Dana and Devon, and one brother, Joey. (Being 24 years old, he probably prefers not to be referred to as Joey anymore, but he will always be my little brother Joey). Dana recently had a baby girl, Peyton Gertrude Grady. So, I am now "Aunt Bee"! Joey co-invented PowerCored, a tool for training baseball pitchers. On 5 April 2011, David L. Millman proposed to me on top of the highest peak in the Arlberg region of the Alps. We plan to get married in June 2013. We recently created our own website.
I attended Saint Joe's, where I earned a BA in Mathematics and in Computer Science. At Saint Joe's, I lived with Kathleen Vaccaro for four years. She now has an MFA from Pratt!
I earned my PhD in Computer Science from Duke University. In my second year of graduate school, my adviser (Herbert Edelsbrunner) told me he was offered a position at IST Austria. So, our research group moved to Klosterneubug, Austria (near Vienna).
I am currently a postdoc at Carnegie Mellon University, working with researchers in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, and Computational Biology.
In my spare time, I love to run and to play lacrosse. I even played with the Vienna Cherokees in Austria!
