All the following screenshots are captured from a Nexus S device.

1. Change App Setting

In Settings, choose "Applications", and then check "Unknown sources".

2. Download and install SecureIME

Use browser to open the Password Entry Study download page, then click the SecureIME download link.

Click the downloaded SecureIME.apk file to install.

3. Set SecureIME as default input method

In Settings, choose "Language and keyboard", then check the SecureIME.

Don't be scared by the propted warning, we won't collect ANY of your input data in this study.

Long press any text editor (Google Search in the example), select "Input method" from the promped window, and then choose "SecureIME".

3. Login your account for this Password Entry Study

At the first time you run SecureIME, you will be required to login the same account you have registered on our Password Entry Study website. After you logged in, click "done with account" button and return to your previous interface

Any time you would like to check your account, or log out to switch to another account, just click the DUKE CS logo at the bottom left corner on the keyboard.

5. Get familiar with SecureIME keybords

6. Associate a secure domain with your password!

Taking Facebook login as a example, you first input your account (email address).

Once you click the password editor, a domain selection window will prompt to you. You are required to choose a secure domain for the password you are going to input. Because you only want your password sent to Facebook servers, you choose "facebook.com" in this example. The selected domain is then displayed on the domain selection button.

The domain selection windown will prompt to you if SecureIME detects a password editor. However, you can actively click the button to select a secure domain for any sensitive or private information such as your SSN or credit card number.

7. Manage domain list

By click "Manage domains" button on the domain selection window, you will be switched to the domain management interface, where you can add or remove any domains.

8. Unistall SecureIME

In "Manage apps" page, find SecureIME from all app list, then you are able to stop and uninstall it there.

Appendix: Browser Settings (disable remembering passwords)

Open your browser, click the menu buttion on your device, select "More", and choose "Settings". Then uncheck the "Remember passwords" option.
