Brief Biography

I graduate from Department of Computer Science at Duke University. My research interests include database, large scale data processing and cloud computing. Especially, I am interested in applying elegant technologies in traditional database into new data processing framework, such as Hadoop MapReduce system, to make it more efficient and adaptive in the cloud computing environment. Now I am working on project Starfish, A Self-tuning System for Big Data Analytics. My advisor is Prof. Shivnath Babu.

I got my Bachelor's degree from Nankai University, in China. As an undergrad, I was an avid technology fan and spent a lot of time on developing software. I completed my B.Sc. degree in June 2007, graduating magna cum laude.

Immediately after college, I joined a startup Kuxun(it was accquired by TripAdvisor in 2009), where I worked for about 2 years. Then I worked as a software engineer at Baidu, which is the most powerful search engine in China. In the summer of 2011, I interned at EC2 team at Amazon. Now I join Linkedin as a software engineer. My profile at Linkedin is here.
