The purpose of this assignment is to make sure you know how to send email and create a web page. Every Duke student is given an account on the Public Unix Clusters. If you are a new student, the account login id and password should have been mailed to you. If you have been here awhile and don't know your login or password, you can get this by visiting the Office of Information Technology (OIT) on the first floor of the North Building. The book "Introduction to the Public Unix Clusters at Duke", which is available at the Gothic bookstore and on the web, explains how to login and send mail.

Part 1: Creating a Web page

You should create a web page in your public_html directory on acpub. For help on creating the web page see the document

Under www there is a link to "Create your Own Home Page tutorial". This document tells you where to put your home page and how to get started.

Your homepage must be created as follows:

Part 2: Sending Email

Send an email note to the graduate TA, Guangwei Yuan (gy2@duke.edu), and tell him your prefered email address and the location of your web page created in Part 1.

Your message MUST HAVE THE SUBJECT: CPS 6: ASSIGN 1: (your name here)

Your FIRST and LAST name must be on the subject line (no nicknames!).

For example, Prof. Ramm would send his message with the subject line

               CPS 6: ASSIGN 1: Dietolf Ramm
