This document spells out, in a general way, what is expected of a TA.

This is a copy of the ethics document that all TAs need to sign.
Below are some sample task schedules all strongly flavored by my personal opinions but including input from Susan Rodger, Owen Astrachan, Carla Ellis, and Gershon Kedem. One of the problems in the past has been that different TAs received unfairly differing assignments in terms of the time requirements. The schedules below make the time explicit. There are some serious questions about actually putting the times into the contract, but I feel it is important that one go through the exercise of adding together the times to get close to 20 hours per week. Only if all assignments require roughly the same amount of time of the TAs, can we get some fairness into the system.
Instructors need to modify these to their needs and styles and to the needs of the course.Below is a draft of a model contract. It would be accompanied by one of the task schedules available above, probably with the times removed.
This document is meant to point out some important gender related issues and might be used as a basis for further discussion.
