My Interests


Arts

Something that I really love is theatre. The first play I saw was Hamlet (I was six years old back then). Some of my favorite plays are A Midsummer's Night Dream, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Glass Menagerie and Twelveth Night. Of course, there are many other very good plays, but I don't want to mention them all right now. =) If you've never seen theatre in your life, I think you should. The world of theatre is a wonderful one.
Since I came to the US, I decided to go see some musicals. The performance of The Sound of Music at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis was simply great. The Phantom at the Opera is also an excellent musical; a dramatic play but a very good one. I also saw Cats, however I need to see it again since last time we couldn't get any seats in the front and we sat really in the back which made it very hard to see the cats.
Music has always been a part of my life. From classical to modern, I enjoy many different kinds of music. I started taking piano lessons since I was 5. I kept playing until I went to high school. Afterwards, I don't know what happened... I think I am somewhat gifted; I can listen to any song and play it on the piano without the musical notes. However, I also have a big deficiency: I don't know how to read musical notes very well (and I will not blame it on my piano teacher because she tried). However, I've always enjoyed playing the piano and I think I will teach myself how to read the musical notes again.
Listening to music joins many of my daily activities. Some of my favorite bands are U2, Live, R.E.M., Dave Mathew's Band, the Police, Prodigy, Enya, Enigma. And of course, I like Sting, Alanis Morissette, Billie Holiday, Miles Davis, Jean Michel Jarre...and the list continues.

Games

I love all kinds of games: card games, board games, mind games ;) Some of my favorites are 5-in-line, Magic -the Gathering, chess, backgammon, Jenga, Sticks, etc. I usually get to play them in my school breaks, since the semesters are too busy. I think I get an overdoze of game-playing in my vacations.

Travel

The Bran Castle, Romania



Traveling is a wonderful thing since you get to know more people and learn about different places. Right? =) Here is where I've been and lived:

  • For 3 months, almost every summer since I was 6 months until 18, a wonderful region of Transylvania. A small village in the Carphatian mountains called Cetea.
  • Alba-Iulia (English translation: "The While Julia =)"), Romania.
  • Deva, Romania. The "Citadel" is extremely nice.
  • Sibiu, Romania. A beautiful mediaval city. See

    3. The Brukental Art Museum.
  • Brasov, Romania. Same as above. Located in the heart of the mountains.
  • Romanian beaches, on the Black Sea.As you can see in the picture linked, the Black Sea is not Black - like the Red Sea is not red. =) Out of everything I have visited so far, I haven't seen any place where people party & have fun in this manner. It is really, really nice.
  • The Blue Danube.
  • The Windy city: Chicago, IL USA.
  • New Orleans, LA USA.
  • New York, NY USA.
  • Washington, D.C. USA.
Travel Plans =)
  • Plan to visit Rome & Milano, Italy.
  • Plan to visit Paris, France. And I really want to see the Louvre..
  • Plan to visit Canada.
  • Plan to visit Madrid, Spain and see the traditional bull fights (among other things.)
  • Plan to visit Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and see the famous street carnivals.
  • Plan to visit Sydney, Australia. My mom has been there. =)
  • I would love to visit some countries of the "East", including China and India.



Dogs



 I like big dogs. My favorite dog is the German Shepherd. I had 3 German Shepherds while I grew up. Sorry, but I haven't taken any pictures of them, but here on the left side is a nice german shepherd dog. This picture was not copyrighted by anybody (I got it from www.dogmania.com). I can't wait to move off the dorm so I can get a dog.




Other dogs that I like are the Romanian Shepherd dog (pictured on the left) and the Saint Bernanrd. The Romanian Shepherd dog is a rare dog and it is origial to Romania. The breed is currently in process of being recognized by the F.C.I. The Picture of the RSD was taken from a site on Romanian Shepherd dogs created and maintained by Dan Dumitrescu and Andrea Popa.

Sports



 One of my favorite sport is soccer - commonly known as footbal in Europe =). I am an avid fan of the Romanian National team, pictured here on the right. Check out the current FIFA Coca-Cola rankings.
I don't play soccer, but I love to watch it. Next, I really like cross country running. And running is one of those sports which make you feel good only when you finish. I also love iceskating (I started iceskaing when I was 5 years old) and in-line rollerblading. I've done lots of sports since I was little, which included professional track and field, judo, handball, basketball, swimming, tennis, iceskating. I love outdoor sports.
