We need unlimited on-line storage, available for random access without penalty, uniformly unbounded access rate for all data sizes and for all relationships of processors to storage devices, no limit on the transaction rate, incapable of losing data, communicable to other sites instantaneously, completely protected against security threats, portable (no power required), and (of course) free.
