Plans for MPAA visit to Duke
First off, I'm still not sure if there's going to be a Q&A session
after the talk; I'm checking up on that now and will know by the meeting
tomorrow.
Update (02/21): there will be a Q&A session following
the talk.
Keep in mind throughout any Q&A session that our target audience is
the other audience members, not necessarily Mr Valenti. He's very good on
his feet, and most likely has heard in some form or another most, if not
all, of the questions we're going to ask him. With that in mind, we
should keep a few simple guidelines in mind:
- Always be very polite and courteous when asking questions. We're not
trying to change his mind, and each person asking a question won't really
get a second shot at asking for clarification. Don't try to get into a
confrontational situation to prove your point.
- We're looking to have very specific, well-thought-out questions
prepared so the question-asker can simply read it off the paper and not
have to worry about being nervous, stuttering, etc, etc.
- To deal with the inability of a single person to ask multiple
questions or follow-up questions, we're looking for people to volunteer to
be "bounce-back" audience members. I.e., when someone asks a question and
Valenti dodges, we'll need someone else to stand up and say, "Excuse me,
sir, but you didn't really address -X- or answer -Y-."
