Paper Review
In this assignment, you are to prepare a brief summary of the paper "Receiver-driven
Layered Multicast". Your review should encapsulate the main point of
the paper, focusing on the main ideas, assumptions, insights, and
conclusions of the paper rather than on minor details. Your review
should answer such questions as:
- What is the authors' main point?
- What are the most important
things to learn from this paper?
- Is their presentation convincing?
Review Format
Your review MUST be limited to 500 words in length. Enforcement of the
length restriction will be strict; it is not possible to report every
detail in 500 words, and an important goal in summarizing papers is to
abstract out the important ideas. Clarity, succinctness of
presentation, and good organization are essential for obtaining
maximum credit. Reviews should be typed and double spaced, and should
be run through spelling checkers (e.g., Unix's {\it spell}).
Your writeup should follow basic rules of essay writing. Start with a
(short) paragraph summarizing the paper's main topic (and indeed,
summarizing your review), and end with a paragraph summarizing its
conclusions. Each paragraph should focus on one particular idea. Use
your own words to paraphrase the main points and use complete
sentences rather than itemized lists.
