Deadlines:

á  SUBMISSION DEADLINE: January 29, 2009 for submission of initial version of invited or contributed papers or posters for consideration by the Program Committee.

Submissions: If you wish to submit a paper or poster to FNANO, you need to do this by January 29, 2009, using with the instructions below. Invited Speakers: Also, if you are invited to give a talk at FNANO, please submit at least an abstract by January 29, 2009.

 

February 22, 2009 Acceptance/Rejection DECISIONS. The notification of acceptance/rejection decisions will be by February 22, 2009.

 

á  FINAL PAPER DEADLINE: March 15, 2009 for final version of invited or accepted contributed papers or posters to appear in the Conference Proceedings.

Accepted Submissions: If you submitted a paper or poster to FNANO that was accepted, you need to submit a final version of your paper or poster by March 15, 2009, for inclusion in the Conference Proceedings, using with the instructions below.

Invited Speakers: Also, all Invited Speakers are invited and requested to submit a Paper by March 15, 2009.

 

In either case the paper to appear in the Conference Proceedings is to be in PDF format without page numbers (See below paper format requirements. Note that The first page of the paper should contain only a title, list of authors and their affiliations, and an abstract; The body of the paper should be on the following pages.)

 

The Conference Proceedings will be published as an electronic book by an electronic publisher, and both electronic and printed versions of the proceedings will be subsequently available by commercial book venders. A hard copy of the preliminary Conference Proceedings will also be provided to registered Conference attendees. Detailed specifications of the paper format are given below. The submission of a Paper is via the paper submission web page: and the web location (will be posted here). On that paper submission web page, first select  "Create an Account" to define your own login name and password. (For security on that paper submission web site, please use a non-obvious password. Be sure to record your chosen login name and password, since then you can subsequent repeatedly re-upload your paper and/or change contact names or paper title until the deadline of March 15, 2009. Please do not later re-submit you paper under a second login name, since this will cause us confusion.) Then after defining your own login name and password, you should next select "Login"at the paper submission web page (will be posted here) . After entering your login name and password, you will be able to upload your PDF formatted paper.  Please then select "Invited Paper" in the web pull-down paper category choice.

*** Unfortunately, we have a firm final accepted paper upload deadline of March 15, 2009, and after that deadline the website will close down so the electronic publisher can format the proceedings.

 

 

DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS OF THE PAPER FORMAT:

 

Most Important Restrictions: *

 

*Submit a PDF Document. Please submit a PDF (with suffix .PDF) formatted document for upload to web location: (will be posted here) . You can produce the PDF from MS Word or LaTex.

 

*Use No Page Numbers nor Running Heads. Your paper should show no printed page numbers or running heads; these are allocated by the volume editor.

Very Important: *First page is Title and Abstract only: The first page of the paper should contain only a title, list of authors and their affiliations, and an abstract. The body of the paper should be on the following pages.

 

*Printing Area. The printing area is 122 mm x 193 mm. The text should be justified to occupy the full line width, so that the right margin is not ragged, with words hyphenated as appropriate. Please fill pages so that the length of the text is no less than 180 mm.

 

*Font Sizes. Use 14 pt Times in Bold for the Title, use 10-point type for the name(s) of the author(s) and 9-point type for the address(es) and the abstract. For the main text, please use 10-point type and single-line spacing, except use 12-point Times in Bold for the title of Sections.

 

*Typeface. We recommend using Computer Modern Roman (CM) fonts, Times, or one of the similar typefaces widely used in photo-typesetting. (In these typefaces the letters have serifs, i.e., short endstrokes at the head and the foot of letters.) Italic type may be used to emphasize words in running text. Bold type and underlining should be avoided. With these sizes, the interline distance should be set so that some 45 lines occur on a full-text page.

 

*Title. Use 14 pt Times in Bold for the Title, 10-point type for the name(s) of the author(s) and 9-point type for the address(es) and the abstract. Three lines below title, list names of authors. Footnote authors' names with footnotes providing authors' mailing address and email address.

 

*Paper Abstract. The abstract should summarize the contents of the paper and should contain at least 70 and at most 150 words. It should be set in 9-point font size and should be inset 1.0 cm from the right and left margins. There should be two blank (10-point) lines before and after the abstract.

 

*Main Text. For the main text, please use 10-point type and single-line spacing.

 

*Paper Sections of Main Text. Number the Sections 1,2,... beginning with the Introduction. For the title of Sections, use Bold 12-point type.

 

*Headings. Headings should be capitalized (i.e., nouns, verbs, and all other words except articles, prepositions, and conjunctions should be set with an initial capital) and should, with the exception of the title, be aligned to the left. Words joined by a hyphen are subject to a special rule. If the first word can stand alone, the second word should be capitalized. Table captions should always be positioned above the tables. The final sentence of a table caption should end without a period.

 

*Lemmas, Propositions, and Theorems. The numbers accorded to lemmas, propositions, and theorems etc. should appear in consecutive order, starting with the number 1.

 

*Figures. Figures should be numbered and should have a caption that should always be positioned under the figures, in contrast to the caption belonging to a table, which should always appear above the table. The final sentence of a caption, be it for a table or a figure, should end without a period. Please center the captions between the margins and set them in 9-point type. The distance between text and figure should be about 8 mm, the distance between figure and caption about 5 mm. Illustrations will be printed in black and white (halftones).

 

*Formulas. Displayed equations or formulas are centered and set on a separate line (with an extra line or halfline space above and below). Displayed expressions should be numbered for reference. The numbers should be consecutive within each section or within the contribution, with numbers enclosed in parentheses and set on the right margin. Punctuate a displayed equation in the same way as ordinary text but with a small space before the end punctuation.

 

*Footnotes. The superscript numeral used to refer to a footnote appears in the text either directly after the word to be discussed, or in relation to a phrase or a sentence, following the punctuation sign (comma, semicolon, or period). Footnotes should appear at the bottom of the normal text area, with a line of about 2cm in TeX and about 5cm in Word set immediately above them.

 

*Citations. The list of references is headed References and is not assigned a number in the decimal system of headings. The list should be set in small print and placed at the end of your contribution, in front of the appendix, if one exists. Please do not insert a pagebreak before the list of references if the page is not completely filled. An example is given at the end of this information sheet. For citations in the text please use square brackets and consecutive numbers: [1], [2], [3], ...

 

Using MS Word.  You can use the MS Word style template style.doc found at http://www.cs.duke.edu/~reif/FNANO/FNANO9/style.doc if you use MS Word to prepare your paper. Please submit the resulting paper as a PDF document.

 

Using LaTex. We have no style files for authors, but we suggest you to use the Springer-Verlag latex formats found at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html. Please submit the resulting paper as a PDF document.
