Rick Floyd

Biography

I received the B.S. degree from Iowa State University with a major in Physics in 1977 and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Rochester in 1982 and 1989.

My work history includes stints at Los Alamos National Laboratory supporting particle physics research, at BBN Laboratories researching distributed computing environments and at IBM developing a number of award winning products in networking and mobile systems.

I'm the author of more than two dozen papers on various topics in high energy physics, process control, distributed computing systems, and mobile computing.

I'm now retired and living on Washington's Olympic Peninsula.

Professional Interests

My professional research interests include distributed and mobile computing (network file systems, mobile systems, resource management, power management).
