Others on campus are welcome to set that page as their default page. How do I serve out my own Web data? =================================== Web page service of URLs of the following form: http://www.duke.edu/~userid[...] is available for those with userids on the public DEC cluster ("acpub") system who create a world-readable "public_html" subdirectory off of their home directory. The default page is called "index.html", so that "http://www.duke.edu/~userid/" automatically accesses the file ~userid/public_html/index.html on the acpub system. If there is no "index.html" file, an index of the public_html directory will be created. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN A "public_html" SUBDIRECTORY ON THE ACPUB SYSTEM UNLESS YOU WANT THE ENTIRE WORLD TO READ IT. Further information =================== Questions or comments about the Duke home page may be sent to . Questions or comments about using the ~userid mechanism may be directed either to the Academic Computing Consulting Desk in room 136 North Building (phone 660-BYTE) or to Finally, below are also some URLs for reference regarding setting up a web page: http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/Addressing/URL/Overview.html (Uniform Resource Locators) http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/MarkUp/MarkUp.html (Hypertext Markup Language) http://info.cern.ch/hypertext/WWW/Provider/Style/Overview.html (Style Guide for Online Hypertext) http://www.ncsa.uiuc.edu/General/Internet/WWW/HTMLPrimer.html (Beginner's Guide to HTML)
