Ron Parr

I am pleased to inform that Ron Parr and his co-authors have received the 2007 IJCAII-JAIR Best Paper prize for their paper "Efficient Solution Algorithms for Factored MDPs Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research (JAIR), Vol. 19, 2003, pp. 399-468." This is awarded to an outstanding paper published in JAIR in the preceding five calendar years. The decision is based on both the significance of the paper and the quality of presentation.

Their paper was selected as an outstanding and lasting contribution to the area of decision-theoretic planning, marking an important milestone in the development of techniques that exploit structure in factored Markov decision processes to produce large computational savings.
